Department of Radiological physics came in to existence on October 3, 2016. It was envisaged that the department will cater the clinical and academic requirements of the department of Radiotherapy, Radio-diagnosis and Nuclear Medicine apart from taking care of Radiation Protection and Safety issues of the university.
Interdepartmental Services provided by the Department:
Provide clinical services for external beam radiotherapy and Brachytherapy treatment and to ensure accurate and safe delivery of treatments
Provide clinical services for imaging and planning
Provide quality assurance services for external beam radiotherapy and Brachytherapy treatment
Provide quality assurance services for radiodiagnostic equipments
Provide radiation protection and safety services to various departments of university, which use ionizing radiation
Installation and commissioning of radiation generating equipments for clinical and research use
Education:
Teach and mentor B.Sc., M.Sc. and PhD students of the Radiological Physics
Teach radiation physics to radiation oncology residents and mentor physics related research
Teach radiation physics to diagnostic radiology residents and students of paramedical sciences
Mentor and guide the clinical training of radiation physics Interns/residents
Academic:
Department has six faculty members who are engaged in providing clinical services as well as imparting high quality education and training to students. Department of Radiological Physics offers B.Sc. (RT), M.Sc. (Radiological physics, due to commence from the forthcoming academic session in 2017) and Ph.D. degrees.
