Department of Clinical Hematology was established in 2011 (29 April) by untiring efforts of Prof A.K. Tripathi.
The unit of Clinical Hematology existed for years in the Department of Medicine before creation of this new Department. Prof. A.K. Tripathi is
the founder head of the Department. In 2015, Dr S.P. Verma joined as Assistant professor and in 2021 Dr Swasti Sinha joined as Assistant Professor.
Currently the Department has 3 consultants forming a single unit. The department has 9 senior resident posts out of which 2 has been assigned for
Fellowship in Clinical Hematology. Fellowship in Clinical Hematology is one year programme for post MD Medicine/Paediatrics students who wish to
proceed with Hematology as carrier option.
The aim of the Department of Clinical Hematology is to provide state of the art treatment to the poor and underserved patients
of Uttar Pradesh suffering from for any haematological disorders. The Department is also dedicated to high class academic activities and research
in Hematology. This department runs Thrice a week general Hematology OPD along with special preventive Hematology OPD on Saturdays with Indore
admission and Day care facilities.
Department of Clinical Hematology carries significant patient load with >15000 patients attending OPD and >1500 admissions in
Indoor on annual basis. Department also encompasses Hemophilia Comprehensive Care Centre catering maximum number of Hemophilia patients in the
state of UP and providing Factor infusion, physiotherapy and counselling services for haemophiliac and Hemophilia carriers.
Future plans of the Department includes 1) initiation of DM in Clinical Hematology 2). to establish and start Stem cell transplant
services which has already initiated 3). To increase the number of beds including private/special rooms 4). To set up intensive hematology care
unit.
