The department of Endocrine Surgery started its independent services in March 2016. The unit of Endocrine Surgery functioning under Department of General Surgery was amongst the first in the country catering to the speciality since 1984. The department is making rapid progress within a short period since its inception and caters to the entire spectrum of Endocrine and Breast Surgery. The department also offers services to surgical ailments of salivary glands and Diabetic Foot with salvageable limbs.
The department headed by first MCh endocrine surgeon of the country, Prof Anand Mishra is a major referral centre not only for state of Uttar Pradesh but also patients from neighbouring states and Nepal.
The department has an intake of two MCh (Endocrine Surgery) trainees per year along with three senior residents (hospital services).
Endocrine Surgery Department offers expert, comprehensive, multidisciplinary care for diseases of the thyroid, breast, parathyroid, adrenal, and endocrine pancreas.
The Endocrine surgeons work closely with highly specialized endocrinologists, radiologists, pathologists, and nuclear medicine physicians to provide a comprehensive team approach that meets each patient's individual needs. Additionally, our surgeons are nationally recognized for their expertise in minimally invasive surgical approaches.
Thyroid:One stop set up for all thyroid disorders regarding surgical intervention (both benign and malignant). We perform both conventional open thyroid surgeries and endoscopic thyroid surgeries (Trans Oral, BABA, Axillary) to patients as per indications and patient's choices.
Breast:The department offers hassle free comprehensive breast care for both benign and malignant breast pathologies with inputs from Department of Radiodiagnosis, Pathology and Radiotherapy. We perform Conservative breast surgery, oncoplastic breast surgery, reduction mammoplasty and augmentation by implants and flaps.
Parathyroid disorders:Both open and minimally invasive parathyroid surgeries are performed within the department.
Adrenal glands:Pheochromocytoma, Cushing's, Conn's syndrome, myelolipoma, non-functioning adrenal lesions, incidentalomas, myelolipomas, Adrenal malignancies are taken care of under one roof. Both open and laparoscopic surgeries (trans peritoneal and retro peritoneoscopic) are performed for same.
Neuroendocrine tumors of Pancreas:Enucleation, Distal Pancreatectomy, Whipple's procedure.
Benign breast disorders - Breast pain, Nipple discharge, Breast lump (Fibroadenoma), Breast cyst, Breast care during pregnancy and lactation, Breast reduction and augmentation.
Malignant breast disorders - Procedures ranging from wide local excision, mastectomy, sentinel lymph nodes biopsies, oncoplastic breast surgeries, chemo port insertion, chemotherapy, hormonal therapy.
Salivary gland disorders - Surgical procedures of parotid and sub mandibular salivary glands.
