News Letter 2018 Achievements of UniversityProf. MLB Bhatt, Vice Chancellor of KGMU has been awarded Dr. BC Roy Award for 2017 in the Eminent Medical Teacher Category. University established new Departments of Sports Medicine, Pediatric Orthopedics, and Geriatric Medicine in the University. University started New courses of Masters in Hospital Administration and Master in Health Professional Medical Education. E-Hospital System has become fully operational in this University. Solar System (Parabola) for cooking food for 3000 patients with solar power was commissioned. The Ventilator unit have been strengthened by installation of 42 New Ventilators. Five counters of Amrit Pharmacy and 01 counter of Prime Minister Janausadhi are fully functional in this University. University received financial grant from Power Grid Corporation for the construction of “rain basera and received funds from NTPC for the upgradation of Burn Unit in the University. Fifty free Medical Camps covering 15 villages of Lucknow District along with other districts of UP including Raibareily, Sitapur, Pratapgarh, Hardoi,Barabanki, Kanpur, Gorakhpur, Amethi, Sonbhadra and Balrampur under Social Outreach program, of KGMU. Over 20000 people have been benefited with medical consultancy and free medicines. Eye Checkup Camps for the drivers of Department of Roadways, UP was organized and over 6000 drivers have been examined for eye sight and 675 drives have been provided spectacles. Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) have been signed with the following institutions in 2017-2018
Patient CareDuring the last one-year 16,33,136 patients were seen in the OPD and 84595 patients were admitted in various wards. Under the prestigious scheme of Government of India “Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakram the patients selected under the scheme are being provided cashless facilities of OPD, IPD, discharge and tests. Online delivery of medicines has been started in the hospital wards. Manual delivery of medicines has been stopped and online Indents are being directly sent to the central store from wards. In order to give priority to permanent employees/faculty, different color scheme OPD slip has been started. All the cashless medical facilities are made online. Along with this, employee/faculty health cards are being provided free online. Exclusive treatment for sports persons: Department of Sports Medicine has started function in the University. In the department of Sports medicine treatment of the broken ligaments will be done without any major cuts by Arthroscopic method. OPD of India’s first Pediatric Orthopedic Centre has been started in the University. Quality treatment of various congenital bone diseases will be done in Pediatric Orthopedic Centre. To save the precious life of poor patients, diagnostic tests like Automated Count, Urine, LFT, KFT, Blood Sugar, ECG, ABG, Trop-T, CT Scan, X-ray, USG and other important tests are provided free in the Emergency Room (Trauma Centre) of University. KGMU has been registered under the ambitious scheme of the Indian Government National Health Protection Mission (Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojna-Ayushmaan Bharat) under which as per SECC data beneficiaries will get free of cost treatment of up to Rs. 5 lakh per annum. University has started providing the facilities under the scheme to the beneficiary since the date of inception of scheme. In view of the overload of patients of different districts of state in Trauma Centre and to solve the problem of referral of critical indoor patients of different department to Trauma Center for Pathological investigations, hospital administration is in process of opening of 24x7 sample collection/cash counter in hospital. Stores opened under the Hospital Revolving Fund (HRF) schemes are being expanded as per the requirement to ensure proper storage of medicines and surgical products. In view of incidents of abuse and violence against doctors/staff by attendants and other unidentified persons, a police chowki has been established in Trauma Center campus. CCTV cameras has been installed in Trauma Centre. Stores were opened in the University under the ambitious scheme of government of India ;Amrit Pharmacy. New stores of Amrit pharmacy are opened in different departments of the University to ensure that most of the patients benefitted from above scheme. University got Rs. 96 Lakhs from NHM to establish Milk Bank.This endeavour will be established in collaboration with US based NGO PATH.
