With the vision of having skilled and safe healthcare providers who are acceptable to society through their soft skills as well, basic idea of "KGMU Institute of Skills” was mooted so that holistic goal of medical education is achieved. Foundation stone of Institute of Skills was laid down by Hon'ble Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh on 12.04.2016. It is being fast developed on second floor of KGMU Convention Center in area of about 26500 Sq. ft. by UP Rajkiya Nirman Nigam in consultation with Space Designers as architect.
Presently, various skill courses as ATLS (Advance Trauma Life Support), ACLS (Advance Cardiac Life Support), BLS (Basic Life Support), ATCN (Advance Trauma Care of Nurses) and ALSO (Advance Life Support of Obstetrics), etc are run under ambit of this institute. KGMU is first and only site approved in Uttar Pradesh for ATLS and ATCN training accredited by American College of Surgeons. Besides it is first and only center of Uttar Pradesh for providing American Heart Association certified training course of ACLS and BLS. Critical care training is also being given through advanced HPS (Human Patient Management System).
KGMU Institute of Skills aims to provide soft and hard professional skills to all Medical (under graduate and post graduate), nursing and paramedical students of KGMU and other institution as well as to enhance skills of practising professionals across India through regular courses, using high end simulators and interactive manikins. This Institute is committed to fulfil targets of skill India mission in medical field.
