THE superspeciality department of Pulmonary &Critical Care Medicine was started in the year 2016 with an aim to provide quality, accessible and affordable care in the field of Pulmonary medicine to all strata of people and for starting the first DM programme in the field of pulmonary medicine in Uttar Pradesh. The department has the biggest respiratory intensive care unit with 24 beds in the country with state of the art facilities under one roof like 12 para monitors, electronic record facilities, bronchoscopy, USG, ECHO, dialysis, chest x-ray etc.
The department runs the outpatient department three times a week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday with 60 bedded in patient service. Well equipped Interventional pulmonology unit with STATE OF THE ART facilities. Following inerventions are done:-

Rigid bronchoscopy
EBUS
CRYOBIOPSY
ELECTROCAUTERY
SEMI- RIGID & RIGID THORACOSCOPY
VATS
The department also became the first in uttar Pradesh to start superspeciality course of DM pulmonary medicine since 2020 with intake of 2 students per year. Subsequently, many other post doctoral certificate/ fellowship courses were also started from 2021 in pulmonary & critical care medicine, interventional pulmonology and sleep medicine with annual intake of 12 seats. More such courses for other sub specialities are planned for coming years. The department has also started courses for intervention pulmonology technician.
