The Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial orthopaedics is imparting training & teaching at the under-graduate level with emphasis on clinical teaching, demonstrations and lectures in the subject of Orthodontics and Dentofacial orthopaedics.
Dr. R.S. Nanda started the M.D.S. Course in Orthodontics in January 1965. Professor R.S. Nanda worked as a Head of the Department till 1972 and later on joined as chairman , Department of Orthodontics at Dental Health Sciences Center at Oklahama, U.S.A.
Till today 238 Post-Graduate students has been awarded degree and are rendering their services not only in U.P. but also in other states of India, while some hold academic position in various Universities in India, U. S., U. K., Europe and Australia.
It is worth mentioning that this Department is the only Orthodontic Centre in India, which has exclusively rendered Orthodontic treatment with Edgewise Technique for the last 50 years besides other modern techniques.

Vision
The Department's future endeavor is use of Digital records & Orthodontic Implants in order to overcome the limitations of intra-oral and extra-oral anchorage, which enhances patient co-operation, as it provides absolute anchorage. It will add a new dimension in the management of Orthodontic treatment.
The Department is continuously upgrading the clinical work, research and academics in the field of Orthodontics.

The Head of the department Prof. G.K. Singh received medworld Asia International Excellency award , MAIER Awards 2020 at Pune on 2nd Feb. 2020 Indian Orthodontic society recognizes as excellence in Orthodontics in 2008.
