GROUND FLOOR SERVICES
Litho Uro Center
In 2003, the department underwent tremendous expansion with the
establishment of 'Litho-Uro Centre' in collaboration with Ama Medical & Diagnostic Centre. The 'Lithouro
Centre' was established on the ground floor of 'Isolation Ward' while the 'Ward' was shifted to the
first floor of this building. The 'Isolation' building was renamed the 'Urology' building. Space was
also created to house the out-patient urology clinic in the ground floor along with the 'Lithouro
Centre' in 18th Sept. 2004. The Lease with Ama Medical & Diagnostic Centre ended on 31.03.2022 and
second lease started with Charakdhar Diagnostic Pvt. Ltd., Lucknow from 26.05.2022 and is presently
continued.
The Litho Uro Center which is on the ground floor has been
developed keeping in view the convenience of the patients. Soon after physician consultation patients go
directly to Litho Uro Center and get the various diagnostic tests done. Most reports are made available
immediately to the patients. This is a unique design and has been greatly appreciated by the patients
and many visitors to our department.
This center in the epicenter of all urological activities; this
area is always alive with action till the time it is open from 9:00 AM till 5:00 PM. Presently, this
area encompasses the following working areas:

Lithotripsy Unit
During the years 2004 - 2022 the Dornier Compact Alpha Machine was installed by Ama Medical & Diagnostic Centre patients with 4826 kidney and ureteric were treated. Currently, Dornier Compact Sigma is installed for ESWL (Extra Corporeal shock Wave Lithotripsy) by Charakdhar Diagnostic Centre Pvt. Ltd. in the department for this purpose. The Department has treated 823 new patients of kidney and ureteric stones from 18th August 2022 to 28th August 2024 with this machine.
Uro-dynamic Suite
Our center was equipped with the latest model of Dantec Company Urodynamic
Machine from 2004-2022 in Uro-dynamic Suite. Currently the newer version of Dantac Urodynamic Suite is
installed in the department under lease with Charakdhar Diagnostic Centre Pvt. Ltd. (from 2022-onwards).
This test is required in patients of voiding problems like neurological disease. This specialized test
is available in only few places in the state of Uttar Pradesh.
Uro-radiology Suite
The Dept. was equipped with 500 Manual X-ray Machine in the years 2004-2012
which was upgraded to Allengers Digital X-ray machine during 2012-2022. Presently the Dept. is equipped
with Allengers MARS 50+ DESIRE Digital X ray Machine from August 16th 2022 onwards for performing state
of the art urethrogram, cystogram, IVP etc.
Ultrasonography Suite
Initially, the ultrasound scans were done by GE Logiq Alpha 2 machine from
2004 to 31st March 2022. Currently, the upgraded version of GE logiq P9 Health Care Machine is installed
from 18th August 2022 for USG KUB and TRUS procedures. This machine is equipped with Transrectal probe
for guiding biopsies and placing radiotherapy markers in the prostatic malignancies. Apart from
diagnostic usage, percutaneous urinary tract drainage and image guided diagnostic and therapeutic
drainage of collections are done with this equipment.
BMD Suite
Osteosys Bone Mineral Density machine is installed on 27th Sept. 2022 at the
department of Radiodiagnosis for departmental usage. This machine is utilized for assessing the risk of
pathological fractures in patients with carcinoma prostate apart from various research projects of
residents, and guiding the treatment accordingly.
Stone Analysis Suite
Thermo Fisher Stone Analysis Machine is installed in 2nd week of Dec. 2022
onwards for departmental use at Department of Radiodiagnosis. This machine is utilized for stone
analysis of patients with urolithasis to identify high risk stone formers and cause of recurrent
urolithiasis. This information can then be used to guide preventive treatment of urolithiasis.
Uropharmacy
A dedicated drug store run by KGMU Hospital Revolving Fund (HRF) provides all the medicines and surgical consumables at 20% - 25% lesser price than the open market. This reduces the patients’ inconvenience by offering them an in-house solution to all their medications and surgical consumable needs related to Urology.
New Minor OT
Situated on the ground floor adjacent to Litho-Uro Center, this OT has been
started on 23rd Dec. 2023 for minor urological procedures. The procedures performed here include
No-Scalpal Vasectomy, Arterio-venous fistula, cystoscopy, DJ stent removal, Trocar suprapubic
cystostomy, bladder biopsy, prostate biopsy and wound debridement. As procedures in this OT are
performed every day, it has expedited the overall diagnosis and treatment of the patients.
FIRST FLOOR SERVICES
The first floor of urology building houses the general ward, office of sister
in-charge, nurse station, resident room, library and ward.
General Ward
It has strength of 54 beds - 30 Beds in Urology Ward and 24 beds in Isolation
ward.
Post-OP Ward With ICU
It has strength of 4 beds equipped with facility of Postoperative monitoring
and stabilization of critically ill patients.
SECOND FLOOR SERVICES
Prof RP Sahi Urology OT Complex
Second floor of the Urology building houses a modern OT complex including,
three major operating rooms, one post-operative intensive care unit and attendant waiting area. This OT
complex was named after Prof RP Sahi, former Head of Surgery and started to function in 2006. The
department is fully equipped with the latest instruments including 100W and 30W holmium: YAG laser for
prostate and stone surgery, Laparoscopy 2D & 3D and advanced fluoroscopy units in all operating rooms.
OT - 1
Here various endoscopic urological procedures are performed like transurethral
resection of prostate (TURP), urinary bladder tumor (TURBT), urethral stricture (OIU), ureteroscopy and
percutaneous nephrolithotripsy (PCNL). It has C-arm compatible OT table, C-arm image intensifier and
plant for generation of RO water. The OT has most of the commonly required endoscopic instruments used
for various procedures.
OT - 2
In this OT there is facility of endo-vision camera for performing 2D & 3D
laparoscopic procedures. Most commonly used laparoscopic instruments are also installed there
permanently.
OT - 3
Regular open surgeries including major urooncological and reconstructive urologic procedures are
performed in this OT. This OT is connected to the laparoscopic OT so that these OTs can also be used for
renal transplantation in future.
Laser Machine
The department has a 100 W Luminous Holmium Laser Machine. This is used in
patient of BPH for HoLEP and for various stone surgeries.
Post-Operative Ward
Adjacent to the OT complex is the post-operative ward with 8 beds.
All beds are equipped with facility of vitals monitoring, oxygen and suction.
